The Indian Menopause Society was established in 1995 in Mumbai as a multi-disciplinary society of individuals who were committed to the care of the mature woman.In the early years, several awareness activities were held, both for the public and for doctors.

Indian Menopause Society (IMS) was founded in 1995 as a multidisciplinary organisation for care of women in menopause. Pune chapter was started in 1998. In 2017, IMS changed its working pattern and chapters were given independence.
